The Automotive sector is becoming more complex and technologically advanced since car manufacturers are constantly engaged in the research and development of innovative structural parts that are lightweight and at the same time better from a functional and qualitative point of view.
SCS designs and manufactures molds for the die casting of metal alloys for the most important car manufacturers in the world. In forty years of activity it has developed over 1100 projects, becoming a reference point in the construction of molds for structural parts.
In the last quarter of 2021, SCS received an order for the construction of a mold, with weight over 39 tons, for magnesium die-casting of a Cross Car Beam designed to be mounted on a model of a well-known car manufacturer.
Structural parts are components of the bodywork and chassis of cars, trucks and motorcycles generally produced using the die-casting process. The cross car beams for passenger cars are complex parts that contribute significantly to stability and ensure that, in the event of a collision, the passenger compartment is not compressed.
One of the main difficulties in managing these projects is certainly the weight and size of the mold, but this isn’t a problem for SCS that is able to handle molds up to a maximum weight of 55 tons.
